KOCHI: All of a sudden, Kochi Tuskers Kerala have evolved from no-hopers into a dangerous side.
The youngest child of IPL was a team that had no stars when the auction finished and by the time the action started in the second week of April, they had found one in captain Mahela Jayawardene who had just notched up a brilliant hundred in the World Cup final. Yet by the time Kochi finished their first set of four matches in the first 10 days, they uncorked a star in Brendon McCullum and more significantly, a group of performing individuals, who could finish off the job even if the captain and McCullum left it incomplete.
For this evolution of the team from babies to a surprise package and now to a force to reckon with, Kochi Tuskers owe a lot to their captain who gives the impression that he is a man on a mission, forever trying to change the unit under him into a well-oiled machine.
